NaNoWriMo

And it’s officially the end of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).

For those of you that don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, it’s where you try to write 50,000 words in the month of November. I’ve particpated in this many times, but this was my first time participating since 2016. So it has been awhile.

I was so excited for this month and to just write. At first I thought, this is the year that I will FINALLY win NaNo. (I have never won NaNo. Those 50,000 words are hard!). Then before it started, I decided to change my goal. Instead of writing 50,000 cause I knew I wouldn’t be able to accomplish that, my goal was to just write everyday. No matter how many words it was, I just wanted to write.

And I did…

…for the first 2 and a half weeks. I was doing good. Somedays I would write 200 words and somedays I would write 1,000 words. Again, it didn’t matter to me as long as I was writing.

Then I stopped. I knew it would happen and it did. I was doing so well in the first half of November. But the second half came, the holiday came, family time, and I was just burnt out. So no more wriiting happened for the last couple weeks of Novmeber. Okay well I did write a few days here and there towards the end of the month, but yeah, it was slacking.

So I failed…but ehh. I’m not upset about it. Honestly, I still had A LOT of fun writing. I still really like the story I came up with and definitely plan to continue on. And it was nice to just get back into writing something. So overall, even though I failed, I still had a lot of fun with what I did write.

Did you participate in NaNo this year? How did it go for you?

NaNoWriMo 2022

So to absolutely no surprise, at the last minute, I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo this year. And by last minute I mean just the other day I had a simple thought of hey NaNoWriMo is coming up! Maybe I should join? Then I didn’t think about it for a few days, and now decided that, yupp, I’m going to do it. I’ve participated in previous years(never won though), but it’s been over 5 years since I’ve last joined in or even logged into the website. 

What is NaNoWriMo? 

National Novel Writing Month is where you attempt to write 50,000 words in a month. Like I’ve said, I’ve never been successful during my tries, but I’ve always had a lot of fun. 

It’s been a long time since I’ve last participated so it kind of feels like I’m new to this. I’m going to spend the rest of October doing some prep work(coming up with a story idea, characters, outline) things like that. It’s definitely going to messy, because at this moment, I have absolutely NOTHING planned, but that’s okay. I’m just really excited to be participating again.

My Goal?

What I like is that everyone has a different goal. I’ve seen goals that aim for writing 50k words, some aim for 25k. Some aim to just write everyday, and some aim to just finish a story. Everyone has their own goals they want to accomplish. I’m going to attempt to write 50 thousand words(wish me luck). We will see how it goes. But really, my goal is to just try to write every day and just have some fun. At the end of the day, I just want to have fun!
