Thanksgiving Feast Book Tag || Happy Thanksgiving!

I came across this tag over at Elley the Book Otter page and thought lets do this! So here’s the Thanksgiving Feast Book Tag!

Turkey: The centerpiece of any Thanksgiving Feast, but it’s always dry and actually isn’t that great… – A book that everyone likes, for some reason that completely escapes you.

You by Caroline Kepnes. I’ve tried to read this book a couple of times now, and I just can’t seem to get into it. I think this one is just not for me. (Also, I haven’t watched the show yet, but I do want to check it out)

Stuffing: Warm and filling, and best when smothered with gravy – A comfort read.

For me, this would be the Shadowhunter books by Cassandra Clare! At this point I’ve reread them multiple times(at least The Mortal Instruments), and I still feel like I’m finding things that I missed. And each time, I get sucked back into the world!

Potatoes: Boil ’em, mash ’em, stick ’em in a stew – A book that’s great in any format – hardcover, digital, audio…

I believe the A Good Girls Guide to Murder books by Holly Jackson are perfect in any format! I’ve read the first two books, three ways. I listen to the audiobook for both, while reading the hardcover for the first book, and the ebook for the second! I enjoyed them each way.

Green Bean Casserole: the obligatory side dish that you have to have… whether you want it for not. – A book that you were obligated to read (for school, for a book club, because it was a gift…)

There were a lot of books that I had to read for school that I didn’t enjoy, but they’re also some that I did. So I thought I’d share one that I did enjoy. A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. I will admit, it has been awhile since I’ve read this, but I remember being so surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. I do wonder if I were to reread this, what I would think of it now.

Jello Salad: Look, this is dessert, how on earth does jello with bits of fruit and marshmallows and whipped cream get classified as ANY sort of salad? – A book that is really bizarre.

I honestly can’t think of a really bizarre book that I’ve read off the top of my head…hmm…

Cranberries: Do you serve real cranberries, or canned cranberry jelly? A book that is highly divisive – and you have strong opinions about it.

I’m going to have to steal her answer and say Twilight! It gets a lot of flack, and I really don’t think it deserves it. Of course it has it’s flaws, but I think it’s a series that will always be important to people!

Pie: Whether it’s pumpkin, apple, pecan, or French silk, it’s not Thanksgiving without pie – A book you can’t live without.

I’m going to have to repeat an answer and go with the Shadowhunter series as a whole. I’ve been reading these books for a very long time, and I just can’t imagine what it be like to not have this series, and these characters! I absolutely love this series!

October TBR

So I’m getting back into reading and I thought I would make a post about the books I want to read is month. img_5158

I really want to reread Twilight by Stephenie Meyer this month! It has been awhile since I’ve reread this book, and Lately I’ve been in the mood for it.

I want to get to Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children this month since the movie is coming, or already is out. It seems like it would be an interesting read(and I’ve had this book on my shelf for some time now!)

At the end of this month, I’m hoping to participate in Deweys 24 hour readathon. I’m going to be getting some graphic img_5160novels from my library for that, but as of right now, I’m not sure which ones. However, I do want to read Saga Vol. 6!

Those are what I’m hoping to get to this month. What are you reading?

Book Discussion- Life and Death

Title- Life and DeathLifeanddeathtwilightreimagined
Author- Stephenie Meyer
Pages- 389
Rating-  4 out of 5
Companion/Sequel/Other- Twilight Reimagined!

This was my first read of 2016, and I have to say, I quite enjoyed it! This story brought me back into the world of Twilight, which I haven’t been in awhile! It definitely made me want to reread the original as well, so I’m thinking I may do a reread of the saga this year.

This story follows the same story as Twilight, however with some changes in the scenes, and dialogue to work with the gender swap! It does take some time to get adjusted to these characters. I admit that I definitely had a hard time picturing Beau and Edthye because I was so use to the original characters. However, once you’re able to do that you do get to enjoy these characters. My favorite was Archie, who is this books Alice!

The ending! I really enjoyed the ending of this book! It was fun to see how Twilight could have ended if it was just a stangiphydalone book. I’m glad I got to see this alternate ending, however I do feel as though it was rushed. I do prefer the original ending for Twilight. This ending also made me a bit depressed. Because of Beau changing, he had to fake his own death and he never got to apologize for what he said to Charlie before he left, and you can tell how he regrets that. It was upsetting, and I’m glad that wasn’t the original ending!

I honestly believe people had too high expectations, and were expecting a bit much from this story. Going into this I expected a fun, enjoyable, slightly different story because of the gender swap, and that’s whatumblr_n0pwfyPVHH1t77ydgo1_500t I got. I honestly believe because I wasn’t expecting a lot, I enjoyed it more than others.

You have to enjoy this story for what it is. A fun, enjoyable story that Stephenie wrote for the fans. Also for those saying that this was published for just a cash grab, I have to disagree. A tenth anniversary edition would have been published anyway, this was just something fun that she though the fans would enjoy. Enjoy it for what it is, and I think you’ll have fun with this story!
