Want to Read || March 2023

Today I want to share some of the books I would like to get to in March.

I say “like to” because whenever I make TBR or post want to reads, I never end up sticking to them. Maybe this will be the time that I do!

Hearstopper Volume 3 and 4

I would like to finish my Heartstopper reread this month. I’m really excited to continue my reread and get back with this squad!

Chain of Iron

I read Chain of Gold in February and absolutely loved it, so I can’t wait to continue on. I definitley want to read a few shorter books first because this one is a beast and I need to prepare myself!

Five Survive

I think this sounds like it’ll be a good read. I really enjoyed her Good Girls Guide to Murder series, so I’m looking foward to another story by Holly Jackson!

I also plan to throw in some ebooks as well, although I’m not quick sure what book I will be in the mood for. Most of my kindle books are romance, so something from that genre!

And those are the reading plans.

What are your reading plans for March?

February Wrap Up

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

I finally got around to reading this book. This is the first book in The Last Hours trilogy. I was completely surprised by how into this book I was. Even when I wasn’t reading it, I was still thinking about it, and couldn’t wait to pick it back up. I absolutely loved this book and am so excited to continue on.

The Lost Book of the White by Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu

Next I read the second book in The Eldest Curses series. These books follow Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. This particular book also had the other characters from the Mortal Instruments along for the ride as well. I enjoyed this one more than the first book. It was nice to be back with these characters, and I enjoyed the plot. I’m excited to see where this ends!

Heartstopper Volume 1 and Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

I did ANOTHER reread of Heartstopper. At this point it just seems like it might became an annual thing. I tend to find myself wanting to read this series at the beginning of the year. This is my third reread of this book and I loved it just as much as the previous times! This series is just sooo good!

And that’s what I read in February.

What did you read?

Favorite Books of 2022!

I’m here to share my favorite books of 2022! In total I read 38 books for the year, which I’m happy with! The majority of these books were three star reads, but I did have some favorite five star favorites of the year!

The Mark of Athena

I read the first three books in The Heroes of Olympus series in 2022 and I had the absolute best time with them. You can also include The Lost Hero as one of my favorites as well. It’s such a fun and adventurous series, and that ending in The Mark of Athena…OMGSHHH!!! I can’t wait to continue on.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

This book was a complete surprise for me, but I had the absolute best time reading it. Also, I was so happy to finally be able to understand the sayings people always mention.

Heartstopper Vol 3 and 4

I read Heartstopper Volumes 3 and 4 early in the year! I absolutely adore this series and there’s just no way it could not be on my favorites of the year! I mean Nick and Charlie and the rest of the squad deserve ALL THE LOVE!!! ALL OF IT!!!

Blue Flag Vol 1 and 2

This for me, was honestly such a huge surprise. I haven’t read much manga(something I really want to do better with this year), but the manga that I have read have just been okay reads. I haven’t come across a manga that has absolutely captivated me until I read Blue Flag. The first two volumes had me absolutely invested and wanting to keep reading. I really adored them, and can’t wait to continue on.

Here are a couple honorable mentions!

I Wish You All the Best

The Love Hypothesis

So those are my favorite reads of the 2022! What were some of your favorite reads?

Birthday Book Haul!!!

My birthday was on the ninth of September and of course I got some books! So I thought I’d share them with you! You can click the book title to go to the goodreads page if you’re interested in knowing anything about these books!

Heartstopper Vol 1 and Vol 4 by Alice Oseman

When I first read these books, I borrowed them from the library. I absolutely fell in LOVE with them and knew that I have to have my own copies. So I bought myself volume 1, and my best friend got me volume 4 because they’re amazing!

Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

This is the fourth book in the Vampire Academy series. I plan to do a binge read of this series sometime soon, and this is the only book I didn’t own. I read the first three books awhile ago, but never continued on despite that fact that I enjoyed them. I don’t remember much though, so I definitely need to reread the first three!

Still Beating by Jennifer Hartman

I have never read anything by this author, but I’ve heard nothing but complete rave about this book, so when I saw it on ebook for only $1.99 I knew this was my chance to see what all the hype is about for it. I heard it’s a very dark, but great read. And they recommend checking the trigger warnings beforehand, so that was what I did.

And those are the books I bought/recieved for my birthday! What books have you bought/recieved lately?

Heartstopper Volume Three and Four

SPOILERS BELOW FOR VOLUMES THREE AND FOUR!

As with the first two volumes, you get all the aboslute adorable-ness and loveability that is Nick and Charlie, and of course the rest of the squad that we have fallen in love with! But we also delve into some deep, serious topics as well. Topics such as self- harm, mental illness, and eating disorders. It’s a lot, but it is dealt with in such a mature way.

In Volume 3 we find ourselves in Paris with the squad! Nick and Charlie are sharing a room with Issac and Tao. Nick is not completely out yet, so they have to still be careful about their relationship. We see relationships develop, and friendships grow.

Volume 4 really focused on Charlie’s mental health and eating disorder. Nick is nothing but supportive and thoughtful to Charlie throughout this entire book. He encourages Charlie to speak to his parents, and even goes with him when he does. And I loved every minute reading this! WE LOVE SUPPORTIVE PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES!!!

As much as I adore Nick and Charlie, I truley believe Nick’s mother had the best moment in this book! Sarah is an absolute angel, a gift, and someone that everyone needs in their lives. AND in my opinion, she had the best speech in the entire book.

I love how Alice Oseman addresses that as much as Nick and Charlie care and love each other, they can’t always depend on one another for everything. They need other support systems around them, like friends and family because it is just as important! And with that I will end with the AMAZING, BEAUTFUL, WONDERDFUL speech by Sarah Nelson!

“Maybe you can’t help him, darling. I know you love him so, so much. I’m sure he loves you too. And I know you feel like it’s your job to “save him”. I know it feels like you are both each other’s whole world, but that dependency isn’t healthy for either of you. Charlie needs help from someone who isn’t his sixteen-year-old boyfriend. He needs help from a doctor or a therapist, someone who knows about eating disorder and how to treat them. Love can’t cure a mental illness. There are lots of ways to help him, you can just be there. To listen. To talk. To cheer him up if he’s having a bad day. And on the bad days you can ask what you could do to make things easier. Stand by his side, even when things are hard. But also knowing that sometimes people need more support than just one person can give. That’s love darling. Sarah Nelson (Nick’s mum)

My Best Reads of 2021!

It’s that time of year! Time to share my best reads of 2021! These are not books that were published in 2021, but just books that I read this year.

This year I read a total of 38 books! My favorites were

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by MacKenzie Lee

This book was such a surprise for me. I honestly did not expect to love this book as much as I did! From the story, to the characters, and everything in between, this was a great time!

Heartstopper Vol 1 and 2 by Alice Oseman

Heartstopper was one that I figured I would end up loving, so this wasn’t a surprise. It’s such a great story that everyone should read! I’ve only read the first two volumes, but I can’t wait to continue on!

Dear Martin by Nic Stone

I believe Dear Martin is a story that everyone should read. It has a great message, with fascintating characters, and interesting discussion questions. I was so invested in this story while reading, I wasn’t able to put it down!

Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

I knew I would love this book, so this is no surprise! Number one, it’s a shadowhunter story and I love all of them. Number two, it’s a finale! For me, Cassandra Clare knows how to write finales very well! I LOVED this one!

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

I was very surprised by this book because going into it I’ve heard mixed things. So I wasn’t sure what to think. I was so glad not to be spoiled for this book because I believe the ending is what is hit or miss for people. Overall, I ended up really enjoying my time reading this one, and it may be my favorite Riley Sager book I’ve read(I still two other books of his left to read)

Red, White, & Royal Blue by Casey McQusiton

This book was somewhat of a surprise. I expected a romance story, but what I didn’t expect was for it to be as STEAMY as it was(and damn was it STEAMY.) But I loved every minute of it. I really enjoyed my time reading this story and gollowing these characters. I can’t wait to read more by Casey!

Want To Read || September 2021

A few books that I really want to get to this month!

There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

I’ve had this on my TBR for quite some time now and I’m in the mood to read this type of story! So I’m hoping to get to it this month!

The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green

This is not a genre that I read a lot from. But I do enjoy John Green works. And I’ve heard good things about this one! I’m hoping to get the audiobook from my library!

Heartstopper Volume 1 by Alice Oseman (reread)

This is a reread for me. I read the first two volumes earlier this year and absolutely loved them. My library FINALLY got volume three in, so I plan to reread the first two volumes again!

Heartstopper VOL 1

Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…?

Oh my God this book! What can I say? I can honestly say I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading this book. It’s the most heartwarming, sweetest book.

Hearstopper deals with friendship, romance, acceptance, coming out, and more. This story follows the relationship between Nick and Charlie.(I’ve heard these characters are mentioned in other books by Alice Oseman, but this was my first read of hers.) We follow the meeting, friendship, and growing feelings between the two of them.

You will end up flying through this story. Not just because it is a comic/graphic novel, but because you will be so invested in this story and these characters.

Also how can I not mention NELLIE! Oh my God, NELLIE!(Nicks dog) She’s the absolute best! We love her!

I also want to add that Alice Osemans book deal with serious issues, and I found a list of the trigger warnings on her website. So I would like to list them here for any of you who are intesrested in checking this story out. These are taken from her website! https://www.aliceoseman.com/content-warnings
