Spooky Would You Rather || TAG

I found this Spooky Would You Rather Book Tag over at TheSassyGeek page and although it’s an older tag, I thought it’d be a fun one.

1.) Thrillers or Supernatural(s)?

Oh definitely supernatural books. Always a go to for me!

2.) Ghosts or Zombies?

Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! I LOVE ZOMBIE stories. I can’t get enough of them!

3.) Vampires or Werewolves?

Vampires 100 percent! I just find them more fascinating, and I may be a bit of a sucker for fun 🙂

4.) Witches or Demons?

I got to go witches! Witch stories can be very addicitive!

5.) Would you rather read a book with 13 chapters or a book with a black cat on the cover?

I’d go 13 chapters. Why not?

6.) Would you rather read a spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room?

Okay, so I was going to pick by myself in a locked brightly lit room. But changed my mind last minute. If I’m reading a scary book, I’d rather be in the dark with only a candle, because if it’s too scary, I could just get up and walk somewhere else with light and people! But if I’m locked in a room, I can’t go anywhere.

7.) Would you rather face your worst fears or be trapped in the mind of a killer?

Umm…really? Do I really have to pick one of these? I don’t want either. UGHHH!!! Okay, I would have to say face my fears…even though it scares me just picking that. But I honestly don’t think I’d want to be in the mind of a killer. Just…no.

8.) Would you rather watch a scary movie or read a scary book?

I’ll go movie with this one. Personally, I find myself more freaked out when watching a scary movie than reading a scary book.

9.) Would you rather read spooky books during the fall time or all year?

Definitely fall time. I just get those spooky, horror vibes in the fall.(as I’m sure most of us do)

10.) Would you rather read 10 spooky books in October or 10 spooky books all year?

Probably 10 spooky books in October. Even though I don’t read many spooky books throughout the year, I definitely wouldn’t want to limit myself on how many I could read.

And that’s it for this spooky tag. What would your answers be?

People come to me because I fix things.

Broken taillights, faulty dishwashers, you name it. There are very few things I can’t make brand-new again. If it’s broken, malfunctioning, or just in need of a hand, it lands in my lap. That’s how Trey ended up in front of me, an unexpected stranger in my kitchen.

Only, he’s not broken.

Far from it. He’s gentle, creative, compassionate, and bright, all wrapped up in this timid, cagey package of blond curls and shy smiles. He’s been dealt a bad hand, running from someone that hurt him more than just physically, and he needs my help. My protection.

But Trey is different from every other guy.

He makes me feel things I don’t quite comprehend. Things I didn’t know were buried inside. No matter how hard I try to keep them quiet, I can’t ignore the way his attention quickens my heartbeat or how his soft eyes and even softer lips stir up desires I’ve never had before, and now that he’s this close to me, I’m not letting anything or anyone take him away. “

April Wrap Up

4 out of 5

One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus

This book was a lot of fun! I was worried because it’s told from four characters points of view, but honestly I found myself enjoying each character. I was really invested in this story and how it would unfold. I don’t know how I feel about the ending. For me, it was okay. I know some people really enjoyed the ending, while others not so much. Other than that, this was a good read! It was also my first Karen McManus book, and now I’m excited to read more books by her.

Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy

This was an interesting take on the Arthurian legend. I don’t read many retellings that deal with the Arthurian legend, so this was fun. I really thought this was a standalone going into it, but when I got to the end it leaves off on a cliffhanger. I should’ve looked into it more because I was looking for a standalone. Regardless, this was an enjoyable book.

Yes No Maybe So by Becca Albertalli and Aisha Saeed

I read this during Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon. It was a good read for a readathon. It keep me interested throughout the story. It’s one of those books(at least for me) that was good while I read it, but it’s not something I’ll go back to.

Wicked Fox by Kat Cho

I started this during Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon and finished it a few days later. I really enjoyed this book! It was entertaing and very addicting. And I really enjoyed all of the characters. If you’re a fan of KDRAMAS, you’ll really enjoy this because it does read like one!

Fruit Baskets Vol 1

This was an okay read for me. The ending though went from happy to sad real quick! I eventually want to continue on with this!

Lord of Shadows

This month I’ve been catching up on Cassandra Clare’s books. I’ve been reading her stories for a very, very long time and I always enjoy them. She puts so many books out that it’s hard to keep up, and to no ones surprise, I fell behind.

I recently finished Lord of Shadows. I don’t know if I will review it, or just do a post with all my thoughts which will probably turn out to be a very rambling post because that book was huge and so much happened!

Reading Plans

Ghosts of the Shadow Market and Queen of Air and Darkness

At the moment I’m reading Ghosts of the Shadow Market, her bind up stories. The bind up contains ten stories, however, I’ve been told to only read the first eight stories and then read Queen of Air and Darkness, and then go back and finish the last two stories in the bind up because they’re big spoilers for QoAaD. So that’s my plan. I always read her stories in publication order so that’s why I plan to read it this way.

Shadowhunter Books

After I finish both of those books, I have to read The Red Scrolls of Magic, Chain of Gold, and finally The Lost Book of the White before I’m all caught up with her Shadowhunter books. As I said before, I LOVE her Shadowhunter stories, and the world that she has created. She has built on this world so much, and I’m so invested in this world and her characters, but damn she writes so many books and so quickly. It’s hard to keep up.

Netflix: Shadow and Bone

When I first heard about Shadow and Bone being adapted into a Netflix show, honestly I really didn’t have a reaction. I was happy for the people who are fans of this series(it’s always exciting, and nerve wracking, to see a story you love being brought to life), but I have NOT read the books, so I couldn’t share in that excitement.

Shadow and Bone Adaptation

I recently watched the Announcement teaser, and I don’t know why, but it intrigued me. The teaser didn’t even show anything, but somehow it got me intrigued. Recently they released some photos from the show, and I saw so many people sharing in the excitement it have me FOMO. I have to admit, it makes me want to join in on the excitement. Also I’m just getting more and more interested in this story. So I think it’s time for me to start this series.

Have you guys read this series? Are you excited for the show?

Heartstopper VOL 1

Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…?

Oh my God this book! What can I say? I can honestly say I had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading this book. It’s the most heartwarming, sweetest book.

Hearstopper deals with friendship, romance, acceptance, coming out, and more. This story follows the relationship between Nick and Charlie.(I’ve heard these characters are mentioned in other books by Alice Oseman, but this was my first read of hers.) We follow the meeting, friendship, and growing feelings between the two of them.

You will end up flying through this story. Not just because it is a comic/graphic novel, but because you will be so invested in this story and these characters.

Also how can I not mention NELLIE! Oh my God, NELLIE!(Nicks dog) She’s the absolute best! We love her!

I also want to add that Alice Osemans book deal with serious issues, and I found a list of the trigger warnings on her website. So I would like to list them here for any of you who are intesrested in checking this story out. These are taken from her website! https://www.aliceoseman.com/content-warnings

Heartstopper VOL 1 Trigger Warnings:

  • Emotionally abusive relationship
  • Non- consensual kiss
  • past homophobia/slurs
  • past bullying
