I’m telling you Tillie Cole is truly an amazing author. Everything she writes draws you in. I’ve never read anything that has made me feel the way that Tillie Cole stories do. They’re addicting, raw, emotionally draining and just simply beautiful! Of course, before you continue on there will be SPOILERS, MAJOR SPOILERS, for this book!

This book follows the characters of Lexi and Austin who we meet in Sweet Home and Sweet Rome by Tillie Cole. This book was so different from the first two. I enjoyed the first two books, but I honestly didn’t feel as emotionally drained reading those as I did with this book. This book is tough to get through, but it’s so worth it.

Lexi. Lexi is the girl who puts on a fake, happy, cheery persona, but underneath it all she is in so much pain. She has an eating disorder, specifically she’s anorexic. Has been since she was 16 years old. Now I’ve never dealt with this type of situation before, nor have I known anyone who is anorexic so I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. This book was really tough to read because of what both the characters went through. Reading the thoughts going through her mind about how she looked was extremely hard. She never thought she looked good, she always thought she could lose a few more pounds. Just a few more pounds and she’ll be perfect. Then after losing those few pounds, just a few more pounds. It was truly heartbreaking to read. I even found myself saying “you’re perfect” a few times.

Austin. Austins situation was just as hard to read. Austin’s childhood was a shitty one. He was introduced to the gang at a young age, and figured that was what his life would be. Until football of course. He managed to get his way out of the gang(thanks to his older brother Axel. I honestly don’t know how I feel about him. I want to hug him, and  punch him in the face at the same time.) Anyway, Austin is now part of the Tides and the wide receiver and he’s damn good. The NFL and a better life for him and his family is right around the corner. That is until his past comes back. Austin’s mother is very, very sick, and because of that Austin has to choose what he wants in life. He ends up going back to his old life, the gang, and selling drugs to get the money needed to care for his mother. It’s understandable, but truly heartbreaking to read. Austin worked so hard to get out and make a better life for himself, and he gets brought back in to help his family.

I really felt as though Austin and Lexi wouldn’t work well together. Especially with everything that was going on with them, with how damaged they both were, you would think they would never work. Strange this is, because of how damaged and messed up they both are, they end up being quite perfect for one another. They help each other out when it’s needed the most, and they bring each other back from the darkest moments.

The only negative thing(and honestly it’s not even a negative, more of a personal preference of mine), I really wish there was a bit more humor in this book. I understand that this dealt with such serious topics, which is why I wish there was a bit more humor. I felt so emotionally drained by the end of it.10353790

This book is though to read, but absolutely worth it. I would highly, highly recommend this book, or any of Tillie Cole’s books(I’ve read 6 so far, and each have been amazing!)

“Why the war paint, Pix?
Because I can’t stand the girl underneath….
“Why the tattoos ?”
Because I can’t bear seeing the scars of my past.”

“It’s funny. I used to look up at the stars and feel so small and unimportant. But I’ve come to realize that the only thing that can ever make you feel alive and important is the one person who takes you for you.”

So I was so glad to be able to read this right after the Angelfall because if I had to wait I would’ve been upset!

This story picks up right where Angelfall left off, which I was grateful for. Penryn and everyone else heads back to the resistance camp. From there Penryn and her family are always stared at and talked about. They’re kind of like the freaks. Her mom for being crazy, Penryn for “coming back from the dead” and Paige for all the scars she has. It’s sad to read about.

Penryn was still he275598r bad-ass self and I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed how she didn’t go out searching for Raffe. You know how in other books, when the love interests gets separated they go crazy and can think about nothing besides getting back to them. That wasn’t the case here. She thought about Raffe of course, but she didn’t run out to try and find him. She was focused on her sister, and other survivors.

Raffe, who was missing for the majority of the book, spent most of his time tracking down Beliel to get his wings back. And I don’t blame him. Beliel is a douche, who doesn’t deserve to have those wings. I would hunt him down if that was me.

THE REUNyas-girl-yasION! The reunion between Raffe and Penryn was absolutely amazing, and when they were finally back together I may have had the biggest smile on my face! I couldn’t help it, it was an amazing scene, and also showed Penryns bad-ass self once again when they were fighting there way out!

DeeDum, are probably the greatest side characters in this story! They’re fun, loyal, and have the best one liners. If you ask me, they needed to have A LOT more scenes. I always found myself laughing whenever they said anything.

However, the greatest thing about this story has to be Pooky Bear. The SWORD. Is it possible to be in love with an object, because I may be in love with that sword. “Bow down to Pooky Bear” OMFG!!! When Raffe finally gets to see his sword again, he can’t believe it’s disguised as a bear, atumblr_m5q43jLDJN1qbs5wend named Pooky Bear. That was probably the BEST SCENE ever. I reread it over and over and couldn’t stop laughing. But don’t let that name fool you, POOKY BEAR IS BADASS!!! I want an archangel sword. GIVE ME! GIVE ME! GIVE ME!!!!!

The first and most important fact to mention is that this story is very raw and dark. It has a lot of mature content and I would highly recommend being 18 or older before reading this book. Another thing to mention is that this will have SPOILERS involved.

Tillie Cole really knows what she’s doing when it comes to these books! This book is breathtakingly beautiful, so much so that it almost brought me to tears. I was on the verge! It takes A LOT, and I mean A LOT for a book to get me on the verge of tears(I don’t think I’ve ever cried while reading a book) This book was so dark and emotional that I had to put it down for a bit. But not for long because I had to pick it back up to see what was going to happen.

This story follows Flame. From the first books you know that Flame is our resident psychopath, whom all of us readers couldn’t help but fall in love with. He’s definitely different from the rest of the Hangmen. He’s quiet, always cuts himself, and can’t be touched by anyone.

Maddie, like her sister, grew up in that commune and had the worst of the brothers. He was extremely violent and tortured her. After everything that she’s been through she has a fear of being touched by men.

From the moment8331744 Flame and Maddie meet in It Ain’t Me, Babe there was a connection. They’re both so tortured that you would think them even trying to be in a relationship would be the last thing that need, however it turns out that the two of them are exactly what each other needs.

Throughout the story we learn about both Flame and Maddie’s past, and let me tell you…it fucking broke my heart reading about there pasts. I knew that Flame had to have gone through something traumatizing, but when we found out what it was, it was heartbreaking.

Flame and Maddie are what each other needed and I’m so glad they found each other. With the help of one another they were able to begin fixing what has been done to them. Nothing can ever completely heal, but they’re workintumblr_m5xf3iAIYn1rv4pd3o1_250g on it together.

Besides Flame and Maddie, we also got to see more of Styx and Mae, and Ky and Lilah and I was so grateful for that. As much as I love Flame and Maddie’s story, my favorite couple is still Ky and Lilah! I really enjoyed getting to the psycho trio better(Flame, Viking, and AK) and I kind of fell in love with AK in this book, so I can’t wait to read his story!

Flame and Maddie touched my heart in this book, and I will never be able to forget them! If you haven’t yet read this series, then you’re seriously missing out on one of the best and most addicting series that I’ve read.

“I used to wonder how two people- one broken girl, and one broken boy- could ever move on from their dark and tortured pasts. But now I know. Together, that’s how. They fight their way through… together.”

I read Cinder about year or so ago and thought it was an okay book. I wasn’t blown away with it, but I did enjoy it. It took me some time to read Scarlet, but after getting pressured by my best friend to read it, I FINALLY did and am so glad! I thought this book was SO MUCH better than Cinder, and I had A TON of fun reading this. If you follow me on Goodreads or Twitter, than you probably saw all my updates!

This book surprised me because I was expecting us to just follow Scarlet and Wolf, and maybe get a chapter or so from Cinder, but I was completely wrong! This book follows a bunch of different perspectives, but the main ones are Scarlet, Cinder, Thorne and Kai. Levana, and Wolf get about a chapter from there point of view as well. It was a ton of fun reading from each of there perspectives.

I really enjoyed27bea4110cf088c88d1e60076a43f944.500x375x6 Scarlet and Wolf’s adventure. Scarlet is looking for her grandmother who has been missing for a few weeks now and nobody seems to care. Scarlet is definitely a badass character, who isn’t afraid to take situations into her own hands. And she really loves her guns! She was a fun character to read about, but at the same time a bit annoying. What annoyed me the most was the fact that everything that came out of her was “my grandma this” and “my grandma that.” It was obnoxious at times because we know how much you love your grandma and how much you want her back. You don’t need to keep mentioning it. Damn! Then again that was the only thing that bothered me about her. Overall she was a great character. One that didn’t judge Cinder right away like everyone else did.

Wolf, I loved. He was different, and was never really able to sit still. He was always moving his legs, or fingers, or doing something. He was a very anxious character, who was able to eat like nobody I’ve seen before! And the chemistry between Scarlet and Wolf was amazing and fun to read about!

As much as I enjoyed Scarlet and Wolf’s adventure, Cinder and Thornes story was AMAZING! I had so much fun with them. Cinder and Thorne broke out of prison and are now escaped fugitives. Thorne, god I FREAKIN LOVE HIM! He is probably my favorite male character in the Lunagiphyr Chronicles! He was so much fun to read about. And CInder and Thorne work SO WELL together. They make such a BADASS team!

And we can’t forget IKO, who was programmed into Thornes ship. Or Kai who literally has every single problem thrown at him! And what he ended up doing at the end, I couldn’t believe it, however, I understood why he had to do it. Shit is about to get crazy in the next book!

What I enjoyed most about this book was reading about the connections between Scarlet and Cinder. It made the reading experience fun, and seeing them all come together was great! I think Cress is going to be absolutely amazing and I can’t wait to see where this story goes. I WANT IT NOW!give_it_to_me

Companion/Sequel/Other- Second book

HOLY SHIT! I didn’t think it was possible for this book to get any darker or intense than the first book, but boy I was wrong! I also didn’t think I could love this story as much as I loved the first book, yet again I was WRONG! I can honestly say that I loved this book more than the first book. Another warning, this book contains VERY MATURE CONTENT, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND begin 18 or older to read this. Also this review will contain SPOILERS!!!

I honestly didn’t expect this dark of a story, but the story of Ky and Lilah stole my heart and broke it, put it back together, and shattered it again.

Ky, at the age of 27, is the VP of the Hades Hangmen Motorcycle Club, Styx’s best friend, and a complete and utter man whore. At the end of It Ain’t Me Babe, we see him and the rest of the Hangmen rescue Mae and her sisters from the commune, and ever since then he can’t seem to get the beautiful Lilah from his mind.

Lilah is a very damaged women after spending all her life in the commune and still believing everything that she’s been told. That she is cursed because of her beauty, and only The Order can save her. After being rescued she believes that she will never be saved. That she needs the commune to pure her.

3g0s3GvAfter a drunken mishap at the club, Ky gets into trouble with Styx and he orders him to show Lilah the world and what it’s like, but not to sleep with her. He was not happy with this at all, because he doesn’t want to “babysit” but soon comes to realize that he likes and wants to spend time with Lilah. Who would’ve thought that these two would end up being so perfect!

I absolutely adored reading Ky and Lilah’s story. They couldn’t be more different, as Lilah sees Ky as crude and vain, and Ky sees Lilah as bat shit crazy! However as they spend more time together they find out that there’s a lot more!

What broke me was when they finally seemed to be good, and FINALLY made love for the first time, Lilah couldn’t help but believe he was under her spell, and she takes off while he was at a meeting. She gets captured and brought back to the commune, and that’s when she realizes that everything there was wrong. She doesn’t belong there(although it’s a bit too late now.) The things that Lilah endured while being back in that commune KILLED ME, and reading how badly Ky was suffering knowing what she must be going through broke my heart. I had to stop for a bit because things got too heavy, but I couldn’t stop for long because I needed to know what woilovethemsomuchmishacryinguld happen.

The story of Ky and Lilah was intense, raw, dark, and heartbreaking, but all around AMAZING and has become my favorite. The Hades Hangmen books are quickly becoming an absolute favorite of mine! My Review of the third book Souls Unfractured will be up soon!

This book honestly surprised me. When I picked this up I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did! There will be SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS in this review!

This book follows 19 year old Travis Stephnson when he returns home from a tour in Afghanistan. He’s been gone for about a year and a half and he doesn’t even want to return home. The only person that is there when he gets back is his mother. She is hugging him and so excited that he’s safe and home. She lets him know that he’s father wanted to be there but he had an important meeting and his bother had work. Seriously? You’re son and brother(who you haven’t heard from or seen in a year and a half) is returning home and you can’t reschedule a meeting or get a few hours off from work? Right then I didn’t like his dad or brother.

Throughout the book we find out that Travis’s dad and brother are even worse than we thought. His dad is a no good asshole who just so happens to be cheating on his mom, his brother Ryan is a class A douche who doesn’t seem to care about him, and his ex girlfriend Paige is a bitch, who just so happens to now be with his brother Ryan. Yeah, when Travis was over in Afghanistan, Paige was sleeping with his brother. Talk about class. And she Ughwhatisitassholedaysends him a letter letting him now that before he comes home she’s with Ryan. UGHHH!! Although Travis really doesn’t seem to care at all which I loved! He has bigger problems to worry about than her and his brother! Although that doesn’t seem to stop Paige from sneaking into his room now that’s his back. That’s what put me off from this giving this book a 5 stars. Travis is so much better than to go back to sleeping with his ex, especially when she’s with his brother. I know that his brother basically did the same thing to him, but come on, Travis is a lot better than that!

Anyway moving on from that rant. Travis is back home and nothing is the same, especially with him. He just lost his best friend Charlie over in Afghanistan and he is now seeing him wherever his goes, talking to him, and having these horrific nightmares. He doesn’t really want to get help, so he tries to ignore them, but it doesn’t really work. Everything seems to change for him though when he meets Harper Gray.

Harper Gray is a girl that Travis has known since middle school. She also is the girl who isn’t the biggest fan of Travis and punches him the face when she sees him in the bar. Although we find out that she has a good reason for that. However, they end up spending quite a bit of time together and things start to change.

What I loved about this story was that yes it has a romance(one that I lovedtumblr_inline_n5g63xpBxj1qa43er) but it was so much more than that. It was dealing with loss, guilt, learning to let go, move on, and not let the guilt destroy you. And I just have to mention that when we were finding out about what happened with Charlie, it was so sad! Harper was there for Travis when he needed someone the most.

I really enjoyed this story, and I think anyone who picks it up will enjoy it as well. If you’re looking for a great story, an addicting read, and something that you can read in one sitting than this is the book for you!

Series Review- Sweet Evil Trilogy

Now I normally don’t do series reviews, but I read all three of the Sweet Evil books by Wendy Higgins this week, and so I thought I would just do a review of the entire trilogy. For those of you who haven’t read the books, the trilogy consists of Sweet Evil, Sweet Peril, and Sweet Reckoning. However, I’ll be quite surprised if you haven’t heard of these before. They’re quite popular, with good reason. To start off I’ll say that overall I did enjoy the trilogy. I’ll have to say I’ll give the trilogy as whole a 3 out of 5. I enjoyed them, but I honestly don’t think I’ll ever reread them, and am glad that I got them from my library.

This trilogy follows Anna Whitt, daughter of Belial, who is a demon and the Duke of Substance Abuse. Her mother was a guardian angel who died during her birth. She was adopted by a woman named Patti and raised in a small town. She always knew she was different, and everything started to make sense when she found out she’s a Neph. One night she’s out with her best friend and human, Jay. They are going to see a band play, and from that night everything changes.

She meets Kaiden Rowe, the drummer and also the son of Parzuph, the Duke of Lust. Kaiden is the boy your parents tell you to stay away from. It’s kind of impossible for Kaiden and Anna though, because right from the first eye contact, they are drawn to each other. As I said right from the first meeting everything changes.NgOe8N8

What did I like about these books? Well I loved the characters(for the most part). What’s really surprising is that, I think I may have loved the side characters more than the main characters. (SHOCKING) Don’t get me wrong, I did like Anna and Kaiden, but they also did get on my nerves a lot! I absolutely loved Patti, Belial, Jay, Marna, Ginger, Blake, and Kopano. I thought they were so entertaining and amazing characters. And when I got annoyed with Anna, these characters kept me invested.

I loved the story itself. I was so intrigued by this world and couldn’t wait to see what would happen with the Neph and Dukes. Who would choose the right path, and who would choose the wrong. Who would survive?

What dstalker-2idn’t I enjoy about these books? Well it’s quite simple, Anna and Kaiden. Now don’t get me wrong, in NO WAY did I hate them. In fact, I was intrigued in there relationship and wanted them to get a happy ending, but boy did they piss me off. The things Anna did just seemed so stalker-ish to me, and really annoyed me. At times, I wanted to put the book down because of it. And Kaiden being so distant, but angry when he believes she’s with someone else. UGH. It’s strange because usually I’m all for these we-can-never-be-together, it’s-too-dangerous, relationships, but this just pissed me off. However, by the third book, it was tolerable, and I found myself enjoying them a lot more.

I figured it would be fun to tell you guys my favorite scene from each book, so here we go.

One of my favorite moments in Sweet Evil, absolutely, hands down 100 percent had to be when she finally meets her father in prison. I thought it was going to be this awkward moment, and he was going to be a complete and total ass to her, but boy was I wrong. I absolutely ADORED this scene, and any scene with her dad in it. He’s so awesome!

My favorite moment in Sweet Peril was the finale when Anna, Kaiden, Blake, Kopano, and Zania had to hide under water when the Dukes arrive at the island. I was so invested in that, and was surprised to see what played out.

My favorite moment in Sweet Reckoning…omg this was is hard. Themma-stone-giggle-gifis is probably my favorite book of the three. I think I have to go with the Thanksgiving scene. When everyone arrived at Patti’s house and they all spent time cooking, eating and playing games like a real family. I had the biggest smile on my face the entire time I was reading that scene! It was amazing.

I think the first and most important fact to mention is that this story is very raw and dark. It has a lot of mature content and I would highly recommend being 18 or older before reading this book. Another thing to mention is that this will have SPOILERS involved.

When I first went into this book, I honestly had no idea what to expect. What I thought this book would be turned into something 100% completely different.

This story is told in two perspectives- River “Styx” and Salome(or as we call her Mae). This story starts out when these two meet 15 years earlier as kids. From that day it changed everything. The thing that I absolutely adore about this story are the characters. They’re all so different and utterly amazing. I was in love with Styx as soon as he tried to speak. Styx is the President of the Hades Hangmen Motorcycle Club, the youngest president they had at 26. He has a speaking condition which makes it very difficult for him to talk. Instead he just signs, and others translate for those who don’t read ASL. He was only ever able to speak to three people in his life: his dad, best friend(and now VP) Ky, and the mysterious girl with the blue wolf eyes.

giphyMae(Salome) was raised in a VERY STRICT religious commune her entire life. She never left the commune, and so she never knew what life was like on the outside. She was always told it was the devils work and everything evil is outside. She was kept in this commune her entire life because she was considered a “Cursed” because of her beauty. She had to follow every rule, and if not she would be punished and those punishments were not something you want. Until one day(at 23 years old), after seeing her sister die, she decides to run. She escapes the commune, but not before being badly injured. She ends up outside a biker compound and from there her world changes completely. Now for those wondering why she didn’t try to escape before, like I said she has been raised like this her entire life. She believed this is how the world works.

She stays at the compound, and her and Styx are reunited. When everything FINALLY seems to be good, all hell breaks loose. Mae ends up getting captured and brought back to the commune. Styx will do anything to get her back and thus begins the rescue mission to get back his old lady. Not only his old lady, but her sisters as well.

This story is absolutely beautiful, intense, raw, and heartbreaking all in one. I was invested in thistumblr_lpoxx9QsDh1qii6tmo1_400 story the entire time and may have stayed up WAY TOO LATE reading this, but I just needed to know what was going to happen. They’re were twists that I didn’t see coming and could honestly say it surprised the hell out of me. This was my first ever read from Tillie Cole, and I can honestly say this book became one of absolute favorites. Not just this book, but the sequel Heart Recaptured as well. My review for that will be up soon!

This book, I’m not sure where to even start with this review. I guess I’ll start with our two main characters, Emily and O’Connell. Emily is a scared, quiet girl who works at a diner, and studies math at the university. She keeps to herself and doesn’t want to draw any attention. O’Connell is a fighter who doesn’t do relationships, and has his problems with his mother.

This story follows them and there relationship. I guess I’ll just start by admitting that I’m very torn about this relationship. I both love and hate it. To me the relationship felt very fast, and at times unrealistic, and during some scenes O’Connell was a bit too possessive. However, I didn’t hold that over him, because in the beginning he admitted that he was possessive, especially when it came to her. So, yes I had my problems with the relationship, but at the same time I found myself so invested in it. I wanted them to work out, to have a happy ending because with all the problems that they have, they deserve happiness.

What I loved the most about this story where all the other characters. Setumblr_m5xf3iAIYn1rv4pd3o1_250riously, I don’t think I’ve read a story, where I wanted every character to get there own story as well. I would absolutely LOVE to read a story from Danny, Kieran, Tommy, Mac, or Nikki.

Danny is such an AMAZING guy who all the guys at the gym look up to and respect. It’s not just the guys though, Emily adores Danny, and considers him to be a father type. Danny is always there for the ones he cares about and will do anything to help you.

I adore Kieran and well. He is such a fun loving guy, and I so think he and Nikki would be PERFECT together. Can we get a love story between them please?

SPOILERS AHEAD!!! The roma93ebc13ed80016aaa07861018512b3e1nce aside, both O’Connell and Emily had a pretty rough life, with O’Connell pretty much raising himself since he was a kid because his mother was always passed out drunk in her own vomit, and with Emily dealing with her very abusive step father. I’m honestly surprised these two wereKHart-Die-bitch able to find love.

And by the way Frank is a sick son of a bitch and I hate him so much! And Syliva is nothing more than a money grubbing bitch and I hate her.

Overall, it a was both a sweet, intense, and great read. I can honestly say that I’m excited to see what happens next!

This book! Damn this book. I don’t even know where to start. This story follows Samantha who lives with her mom, and sister. They have a good lifestyle especially since her mom became Senator. They’re house and yard are always spotless(her mother seems to have OCD, although it’s never officially confirmed.) They live next door to the Garretts, who are the complete opposite of them, and who Samantha’s mother hates. She always tells her daughters to stay away from that family. What she doesn’t know is that Samantha always watched them from her roof. I know, it sounds a bit creepy, but she watches them in a non creepy way.

Until one nDug-I-Have-Just-Met-You-and-I-Love-You-Upight when she’s on her roof and a boy climbs up and sits right next to her. That boy is none other than Jase Garrett from next door. From there is the beginning of an AMAZING story. And I just have to say how much I LOVE Jase. Right from the beginning.

First and foremost I just need to say how much I freakin LOVE the Garrett family! Seriously can I become one of them? ADOPT ME! They already have 7 kids, just toss me in there! The Garrett family consists of Mr. and Mrs. Garrett, Joel, Alice, Jase, Andy, Duff, Harry, George, and Patsy, and a crap ton of animals. Every single member of the Garrett family is amazing and I love them. Especially George and Patsy. Patsy and George in particular because Patsy just goes around saying “Boob” and “Poop” and it’s so adorable, and George because he just met Sam, and wants to marry her! SO CUTE!

WVqpJ2This story deals with first love and it’s done extremely well. However, what I really enjoyed was that it didn’t just stop there. It deal with SO MUCH MORE than love. It deals with drugs, addictions, politics, in a way corruption, car accidents, and a big one is morals. What’s right and wrong in certain situations.

Samantha’s mother was a very difficult woman. One thing I didn’t like was how easily she was manipulated by that douche bag Clay. I mean, shes a senator, and a single mother, which means she has to be a pretty strong woman. So for her to be so easily manipulated by Clay because he showed interest in her or treated her a certain way, and said the right things, really irritated me. I hate that bastard! But at the same time, I understand that that was his job. He made a career out of being able to manipulate people, and he’s damn good at it!

Overall, Jase and Samantha are such an amazing couple, and I feel like an adoptive member of the Garrett family just by reading this book! I can’t wait to see more of them all in the companion, The Boy Most Likely To! jd-faint-o
